Interactive 'Living' Magazine Cover Features Emma Watson

Marie Claire magazine today announced its new Marie Claire App for iPad, powered by Zinio, now available in the App Store. This new monthly digital edition of the December issue is enhanced with a "living" cover, embedded videos, audio clips, interactive quiz, and user-controlled 360-degree views of featured items and accessories. The Marie Claire App, free for download, offers sample features from several recent issues and gives users the option of purchasing a single issue or a yearly subscription (the December issue is $3.50, subscription is $10/year) through In App Purchase.

The Marie Claire App for iPad is a completely re-created version of the magazine based on Zinio's new branded app solution that gives publishers control over the content of the app while still leveraging Zinio's UNITY distribution.

"We adore iPad because it allows us to bring a truly interactive experience to our readers and bring the magazine to life in a way we couldn't do before," said Joanna Coles, editor in chief of Marie Claire. "Our debut monthly issue app features the beautiful Emma Watson, and is filled with video, audio and interactive experiences that go beyond what we have offered in past digital editions." [Read more]

Watson not a fan of the corset

Watson not a fan of the corset

Emma Watson got to indulge her girly side in My Week With Marilyn.

The British starlet - best known for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films - enjoyed ditching Hermione's ill-fitting clothes for figure-hugging 50s outfits for the new role.

"It's amazing to play a role that's in a different time period - the 50s are so much fun and I loved wearing the costumes," she said.

While she had a ball with the ladylike costumes, Emma reckons she wouldn't like to wear them all the time.

"I certainly felt more feminine - they were really about curves and a waist, and I thought, 'Wouldn't it be nice to be more womanly?'" she continued, adding: "I say that, but I was wearing a waspie, a 50s version of a corset, and I certainly wouldn't last very long in one of those."

Michelle Williams takes the title role in the Simon Curtis period drama, but most of Emma's scenes were with Eddie Redmayne, who plays British writer-director Colin Clark.

"Eddie was just such a delight to work with, such a generous actor," she gushed.

"It's a great little role, I'm really thrilled to be a part of it. It was lovely to start with my new career and my new life really."

She reckoned fans won't be disappointed: "[Distributor] Harvey Weinstein showed me the trailer before I went off set, and it's going to be good."

My Week With Marilyn is expected to be released in 2011. [Source]

Emma's Christmas Message 2010
30 November 2010

Hi everyone,

Well, I think it’s safe to say this has been a pretty busy year for me!

On the work front, I designed an organic clothing collection with Alberta Ferretti due out next Spring, a fair trade range for People Tree also due to be released in the Spring, fronted the Burberry Spring/Summer 2010 campaign, had my first British Vogue cover, filmed a small part in My Week With Marilyn alongside Michelle Williams and Eddie Redmayne and, of course, filming finished on the very last Harry Potter film!

I also completed my first year at Brown and began my second year this September. I am so glad I made the decision to go to university there - it continues to be an amazing experience and I have made so many great friends. Oh, and I had a haircut, you might have read about it...!

I just wanted to send you all a quick message to say Merry Christmas. I continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support you all give to me. I really do appreciate it.

So wherever you are this December, I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and wish you a wonderful New Year.

I have also posted a little video message too, take a look in the Slideshow.

Love Emma xx
