Welcome to EmmaW.Net, your best source for all things Emma Watson. You may know Emma from her role in the Harry Potter films, her modelling work for Burberry, or her collaboration with People Tree. Please enjoy your stay!
Thanks to Fiction to Film, we have the extended trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There is some question as to the authenticity of this but it's still great fun to watch! Enjoy!
Yesterday I added a brand new poll of the month, asking what you guys thought about the new Burberry ad campaign. Let's hear what you've got to say! Vote below or on the sidebar!
More behind-the-scenes photos from the Burberry Spring/Summer 2010 campaign have been released. Also, a number of the photos that we already had have surfaced in higher quality. Click below to see the HQ album in our gallery!
Two gorgeous (albeit very small) new photos have recently been published by the Times, along with an article about Emma's soon-to-be-released clothing line.
The thought of a young successful actress designing an ethical fashion range might seem, at first glance, as nauseating as Katy Perry’s public adoration of Russell Brand. Both just seem too dutiful to be taken seriously. Yet, even though I quietly hoped Emma Watson would become tangled at the first hemp-woven hurdle when the collection was announced in September, she has actually created a very clever range for the retailer-with-a-conscience, People Tree.
In terms of its ethical credibility, things don’t get more sound. Fair trade groups using organic cotton make the clothes by hand, and the work this collection provides helps to improve the lives of disadvantaged workers in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
This, of course, we have seen before. What Watson, as Creative Advisor, has done differently, is that she has plaited together several fashionable threads to appeal directly to her peers. She might well be the face of Burberry, and have enjoyed at least one wardrobe deal with Chanel for her red carpet Harry Potter looks, but what Watson provides is an understanding that a bit of Hollister jersey blended into American Apparel basics, and topped off with humorous slogans, will mean that these clothes can transcend their worthy beginnings — and just become cool...
There is a new layout up in the gallery, thanks to Untouched Designs. It features the new Burberry ads, so I thought it would be more appropriate. :) Feel free to let us know your thoughts on it!
There has also been a rumour floating around that Emma will not be attending the Fair Wear show on February 25th. Unfortunately, a People Tree representative has apparently confirmed that Emma will not be attending the event, so I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer to catch a glimpse of Emma!
Thanks to Magical Menagerie, we now know that TimesOnline has a new article revealing some more information on Emma's People Tree clothing line due out next month!
What Watson, as Creative Advisor, has done differently, is that she has plaited together several fashionable threads to appeal directly to her peers. [...] but what Watson provides is an understanding that a bit of Hollister jersey blended into American Apparel basics, and topped off with humorous slogans, will mean that these clothes can transcend their worthy beginnings — and just become cool. They look comfortable too, which is vital when you consider that Uggs and leggings sell the pants of every awkward catwalk trend: there are cropped tracksuit pants, little sailor-stripe T-shirt dresses, cricket jumpers and hoodies, polo-tops and plaid shirts for the boys. As Watson herself admits, at present her competition is minimal. “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there.”
[...] These hand scribbled Union Jacks and Margaret Howell-inspired pleat-front shorts, mean that People Tree can now compete with the brands that look nice but which, because of their manufacturing techniques, can never compete in terms of environmental and humanitarian awareness. I like the slogans too. “I’m not toxic”, written in a graffiti font across a plain tank top doesn’t look worthy, just as the hapzardly written “Please don’t panic. I’m organic”, actually makes you smile.
[...] The photography that accompanies the collection continues her youthful, American-college inspiration. There are clean-shaven men, looking simultaneously wholesome and sultry, alongside bright young girls with dorky facial expressions that somehow manage to look cute. If it all sounds a bit cringy then blame my powers of description: it’s a great little capsule collection with Watson’s name close by. In short, it is about delivering an important issue to a young market and, really, there is nothing wrong with that. [Source]
Just a quick update to state the obvious, I suppose, which is that there is a brand new layout up! I hope you guys like it--I really wanted to brighten up the site a bit for the New Year, since it's been quite dark for the past couple of months!
I've also added some extra sections to keep you guys up-to-date with Emma's projects. You'll notice a new section on the sidebar for that purpose, as well as a much more detailed breakdown of the Career section, so check it out!
And I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Claire for keeping this site updated over the past few days while I was working behind the scenes!
Hope you like the new version, and feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments (which have also been fixed)!
