Emma's People Tree career section & contest updated |
| January 24, 2010 @ 9:19pm · 0 comments |
In light of the number of People Tree spring previews that have surfaced, I've added a new section to the People Tree page in the "career" section. There you can view the new pieces as they become available. There are already ten pieces that we've seen, but let's hope more become available!
Also, it's come to my attention that some people have been having trouble getting the form to submit for the Twitter Contest, so I've updated the page to include alternate means of contact. Please don't be shy to let me know if it (or anything else, for that matter!) is still acting funny so I can fix it! :) |
Fan-organized live stream to help Haiti |
| January 23, 2010 @ 11:38am · 0 comments |
I know this is not really Emma-related, but Haiti needs all the help they can get and this is something simple but great you can do to help out! The HP Fan Alliance has organized a live stream fundraiser to help raise funds for this important cause.
The live stream starts at 2pm EST today...[...]That's when fans of all kinds will be coming together to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Rooted in the Harry Potter community, and representing many fan communities (including Heroes, Lost, True Blood, The Wire and Firefly), this group of podcasters, musicians, artists and activists will put on a four-hour show that includes entertainment, performance, interviews, news and a lot more. We will laugh, talk and listen while we raise money for Partners in Health, an organization helping those hardest hit by the tragedy.
We have received more than 100 prize donations from authors, musicians, and activists to aid in this effort. Details about minimum donations and how to win specific items will be made available on FRIDAY.
[...]Meanwhile, please get the word out! See you Saturday! More details on this website.
[Edit] Between 2:00 and 7:30pm (EST), the event was able to raise over $31,000 USD towards the Haiti relief effort! A special thanks to all the EmmaW.Net visitors who made donations, and a reminder that donations can still be made throughout this week at Helping Haiti Heal. [/Edit] |

Terror victims meet Harry Potter star |
| January 22, 2010 @ 11:25am · 0 comments |
A group of Israeli victims of terror enjoyed dinner with Harry Potter star Emma Watson on Sunday.
The Israelis, visiting under the aegis of One Family, spotted Watson at The Grove in Watford. When one introduced himself to the actress, she left her friends to join their table, signing autographs and talking about her career.
One of the group, 20-year-old Ran Eliya, said: “Harry Potter is massive in Israel and we are all big fans. It was an amazing start to our respite trip with One Family to have dinner with Hermione on our first night. She was so nice to us and seemed interested in why we are here.”
One Family’s Andrew Alexander added: “The group is here for a week and will be meeting hundreds of people from our community. But I’m sure meeting Emma Watson will be the big highlight.”
The group’s itinerary also took in Buckingham Palace, an Arsenal game and a community lunch in Finchley with over 200 people. [Source] |

Emma the new Keira Knightley? |
| January 20, 2010 @ 5:47pm · 0 comments |
A new article has been posted about Emma, talking about how in-demand she is for fashion ad campaigns. The article is not particularly unique, in that everyone is talking about Emma, but there is one very interesting bit of information included!
Emma Watson set to be the new Keira Knightley
She's already a global star as Harry Potter's Hermione Granger.
Now experts say her classic but ethereal English beauty could make actress Emma Watson as in demand to model for leading fashion houses as Keira Knightley.
Watson's first fashion campaign, for Burberry, sent its sales soaring by 12 per cent in the final three months of last year to £380 million, smashing forecasts. Trench coats and handbags flew off the shelves after Watson was pictured with them. Burberry has signed her for a second season this spring/summer. The contract finishes in July.
Karl McKeever, brand director at Visual Consultancy, said: “I expect her to be extremely in demand. She could be the next Keira Knightley, who landed one of the Chanel contracts.”
Neil Saunders, consulting director at retail analysts Verdict, said: “Emma is girl-next-door with a twist.” But he warned: “She has to be careful. You need to be a very powerful celebrity to model for several simultaneously, or the impact can wane.” [Source]
If the contract finishes in July, does that mean Emma will also be shooting the Fall/Winter 2010 campaign for Burberry? This certainly has not been confirmed, but it will be interesting to find out! |
